2018 Travels

We are really excited to say that in 2018 we will be setting out on another extended cruise. This time as a family of 4. Our 2 little darlings (I will call them that now as by the end of the 6 months travelling I may never want to call them by that endearment again) are now old enough to be a bit more self sufficient, to be able to competently swim and hopefully very soon be able to comfortably snorkel but also they are old enough to remember some of this amazing adventure!

A little background info
It has been 10 years since we last set out for an adventure of a lifetime. Peter and I packed up and sold our house in Sydney with a 3 year plan to travel the South Pacific. We learnt a lot in our travels, mainly that plans are made to be broken 😊. We travelled down to Tasmania for summer then headed North for winter up to the Whitsundays. The second summer was spent earning some $$$ in Coffs Harbour and then we headed out to New Zealand on our longest ocean voyage. New Zealand was a short stop over before heading north to Tonga, then across to Fiji followed by New Caledonia and home again. That's a very condensed version of our adventures, you can read about them in our journal 2008-2009.
From 2010 onwards Jura has lived in the Coffs Harbour Marina. We got jobs, purchased a house, had 2 children and now 10 years later the sea is calling us again.

So here is the plan
Peter has taken long service leave basically giving us 6 months of travel time. Wanting to gently expose the kids to offshore travel we plan for Peter to take the boat up to the Gold Coast, where the kids and myself will board. We hope to have a few weeks around Moreton Bay to familiarise ourselves and the kids with the boat before hopping North up the coast. We have tried not to make any particular plans. Cruising with the kids will be different and possibly slower paced whilst we fit in distance education schooling for Mia. We think we will be around the Whitsundays by Joels birthday at the beginning of June. And hope to get up to Magnetic Island but that is really all the plans we have! It is kind of refreshing.
